Eduardo Zegarra in Sudaca Peru: social mobilization for the agrarian strike

“After the pandemic, a new problem has hit the agricultural sector even more: the sharp increase in the price of fertilizers. First the price of urea doubled, then it tripled, and we are currently in a serious problem of shortages [… ] Peru imports 100% of the urea. We do not produce it internally. This is very serious, because it affects a large number of farmers. The most affected are the commercial ones: the producers of rice, potatoes, corn, they have immediate effects. That is why the discontent is throughout the country.”
