Presentation

The purpose of the Project is to prepare a technical document that quantifies and explains the economic costs for the State and the economy of Peruvians, generated as a result of the prevalence of anemia as a public health problem and to propose public policy actions to address the problem.

The specific objectives include:

–     Estimating the economic costs generated in the society due to the prevalence of anemia among adults, analyzing and explaining its current consequences for the Peruvian economy.

–     Estimating future economic costs that the current prevalence of anemia among children will entail, analyzing and explaining its negative impact on the Peruvian economy.

–     Estimating the costs incurred by the State in providing care for the anemia and ensuing health problems.

–     Establishing recommendations for decision makers.
