Access to irrigation and changes in the crop portfolio in the Peruvian rural highlands in environments of climatic vulnerability

Areas : Rural development and agriculture
Researcher/s in charge : Carmen Ponce
Execution time:August 2014 - March 2016

Presentation

This research project aimed to build a climate variability indicator from local information and World-Clim georeferenced data for a 30-year period prior to the last two agricultural censuses (1994-2012). Based on the information available in CENAGRO 2012 and CENAGRO 1994, it studied the changes that occurred in cropping and breeding patterns in the rural highlands of Peru, taking into account two key factors associated with farmers’ sowing decisions.
