This chapter is part of these efforts and is the result of the Grupo Sofía’s agenda, which aims to deepen the analysis of the disparities between women’s and men’s experiences in the academic labour market in the social sciences. Specifically, we analyse the opportunities and barriers faced by Peruvian women social scientists during their academic careers. We seek to characterise the trajectories of those who have reached a certain degree of professionalisation in the academic career and those of their male peers, coming from diverse institutional contexts —public or private universities and research centres, in Lima or in the regions—, and to identify and examine the factors that could be hindering or facilitating the progress of their career trajectory.
