This article addresses the main components of the “Guidelines for the assessment of competencies of Basic Education students in the framework of the health emergency caused by COVID-19”, highlighting both their positive aspects and the challenges involved in their implementation. Likewise, it provides some recommendations in order to guide the strengthening of capacities that will be involved in the application of the formative evaluation approach.
