Presentation

Following up on a first stage of research on transition initiatives towards inclusive and sustainable development models in territories with large-scale mining, GRADE has initiated, in partnership with the Ford Foundation, the study “Promotion and strengthening of proposals from civil society organizations for inclusive and sustainable development initiatives in mining regions of Colombia, Peru and Chile, through applied research”.

The main objective of the study is to develop a comparative research agenda on transition processes, implemented in a collaborative and participatory manner in alliance with local actors and policy makers at multiple levels (local, regional and national). The process seeks to promote and consolidate knowledge alliances (networks) in different thematic areas. Five thematic lines have been prioritized: extractive rent and local development, mining environmental liabilities, citizen participation and territorial rights, community environmental monitoring, and mining exclusion zones.
