Presentation

Understanding the key facts about the phenomenon of violence against women in Peru is a first step to create awareness, internal and external, and design better policies.

This project will focus on the preparation of a document on violence against women in Peru. Data will be analyzed -in particular, from the Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES)- and a detailed bibliographical review. The incidence/prevalence of gender-based violence (GBV) in Peru will be examined in its various manifestations: how it compares with other countries, correlations and risk factors, as well as the implications and costs for the individual, the family and society.

The result should serve as a tool to get involved internally and externally with the issue, even for key actors in the Government of Peru.
