On the sidelines of the International Year of Indigenous Languages and the beginning of the Week of Cultural and Linguistic Diversity, the Ministry of Culture’s Vice-Ministry of Interculturality held the conference “Cultural and linguistic diversity in Peru”. The main aim of the event was to share the official data on ethnic self-identification and mother tongue collected in the National Censuses 2017 and to carry out an analysis of them.

Our Associate Researcher, Néstor Valdivia, together with Gladis Vila Pihue, indigenous leader of the National Organization of Andean and Amazonian Indigenous Women of Peru (ONAMIAP) and Norma Correa, a research professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), commented on the results of the questions of self-identification, mother tongue and advances of the Culture sector.
