Our Senior Researcher María Balarin will join the fourth edition of the Ibero-American Congress of Comparative Education: Education and Democracy. The event will be held from September 25 to 29 in Mexico City. The Sociedad Iberoamericana de Educación Comparada (SIBEC), the Sociedad Mexicana de Educación Comparada (SOMEC), the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Facultad de Filosofía y Letras (FFyL-UNAM), and the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Xochimilco (UAM-X) are co-organizers.
According to its website, the congress will address the theme of “Education and Democracy”, as education plays a fundamental role in the formation of informed, critical and participatory citizens in democratic systems. In this space, participants will share studies grouped into four themes: (i) Right to education, access, accompaniment, trajectories, graduation; (2) Education, interculturality, inclusion, equity; (3) Democracy, providers and educational modalities; (4) Democracy and curriculum. Education for global citizenship.
On Monday, September 25, Maria will be part of the presentation of the book Educational Policy in Latin America: Reforms, Resistance and Persistence. On Tuesday, September 26, she will be part of the panel of experts discussing “The Right to Education in Latin America.”
