Elinor Ostrom
Dr. Ostrom received her Ph. D. in political science from UCLA. She is Arthur F. Bentley Professor of Political Science, Co-Director of the Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis, and Co-Director of the Center for the Study of Institutions, Population and Environmental Change at Indiana University, in Bloomington. Among her multiple awards are: the Frank E. Seidman Distinguished Award in Political Economy, Johan Skytte Prize in Political Science, and the John J. Carty Award for the Advancement of Science. She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Ostrom has also served in numerous associations, including President of the American Political Science Association, of the Public Choice Society, and of the International Association for the Study of Common Property. Several of Dr. Ostrom's publications in academic journals and books have rapidly become classics in her field. Dr. Ostrom's professional experience includes several developing countries, on issues such as the development of institutions and environmental changes including micro and macro analysis.
