Sánchez, A. y Meléndez, G. (2015). Cambios en el bienestar de los hogares: resultados iniciales del estudio Niños del Milenio. Cuarta ronda de encuestas en el Perú. Lima: Niños del Milenio; INN; GRADE.

This report presents the first findings on variations in the well-being of the households we follow, found in the fourth round of surveys of the Young Lives study in Peru in 2013. It describes some of the changes that have occurred in household poverty levels over the eleven years since we first interviewed the children in the study in 2002. The data show a significant overall improvement in the living conditions of the children’s families. Although gaps in well-being outcomes persist, they have narrowed over time, in some cases markedly. This progress can probably be explained by the country’s economic development, improvements in the coverage of basic services, social programmes and geographic mobility. At the same time, we identify areas in which disadvantaged groups are still lagging behind. The challenges ahead for policy makers involve working not only to reduce persistent inequalities in coverage and access to services, but also to further reduce gaps in the quality of services received by the poorest households.
