The main objective of this publication is to contribute to raising awareness of the relevance of quality infrastructure in various aspects of the economy and society, and to strengthen the leading role it should play in public policies. It is also hoped that it will serve as a stimulus for new impact studies in Latin American and Caribbean countries, which will help improve the functioning and positioning of the institutions that provide quality services in these countries. The quality infrastructure is not only essential to be able to compete and enter global production chains, but also to ensure certain quality standards for the population that consumes or uses the various goods and services.
