monogr\u00e1fica sobre escuelas rurales, pretende mostrar la diversidad existente entre escuelas rurales de algunos pa\u00edses desarrollados o en proceso de desarrollo de 6 continentes.\u00a0 Empieza llamando la atenci\u00f3n hacia la invisibilidad de las escuelas rurales en la literatura y preocupaciones de pol\u00edtica educativa, invisibilidad notable dado el hecho de que las escuelas con aulas multigrado son casi un tercio de las existentes en todo el mundo y de que casi todos los 700 millones de analfabetos, y 4 de cada 5 de los 60 millones de ni\u00f1os y ni\u00f1as que no asisten a la escuela, residen en \u00e1reas rurales.\u00a0 Incide el art\u00edculo en la diversa vinculaci\u00f3n entre el desarrollo rural y la calidad de la educaci\u00f3n que all\u00ed se ofrece, as\u00ed como en las condiciones &#8212; tambi\u00e9n diversas &#8212; de trabajo de los docentes
