The main objective of the study is to know the use of time dedicated within the educational institutions and classrooms (teaching or other activities) and explore other factors or variables (cognitive demand, curricular coverage and classroom atmosphere) that may be associated to the quality of the education secondary school students receive in regular public educational institutions. To that end, the study will determine the use of time that Peruvian public educational institutions dedicate; it will describe the use of time in the classrooms of fifth secondary grade students in public educational institutions; it will design, guide and validate instruments that may enable analyzing other aspects concerning educational quality; and it will perform a multivariate analysis that will explore the relation between students’ performance and the use of time in the classrooms and the educational institution.
